Nigel Crocker, sackbut
After six years as principal trombone with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Nigel moved to Sydney in 1990 where he has been freelancing with organisations such as Opera Australia, ACO and SSO. He is currently Principal Trombone of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra and teaches at the Sydney Conservatorium.
His first venture into period music was for Pinchgut Opera’s 2004 production of Monteverdi’s Orfeo. He has subsequently been a regular sackbuteer for that organisation along with other groups including Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra and Camerata Antica.
