Ingo Müller, baroque oboe

Ingo Müller is a German baroque oboe player, based in Freiburg (Germany). He graduated in baroque oboe and music pedagogy from the Conservatories of music in Freiburg and Trossingen (Germany) and performs regularly with Europe’s foremost early music ensembles such as “Balthasar Neumann Ensemble”, “Freiburger Barockorchester”, “Kammerorchester Basel”, “Concerto Köln”, “Orfeo 55”, “Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen” and “Wiener Akademie”. Ingo has appeared at prestigious European festivals such as “Salzburger Festspiele”, “Leipziger Bachwoche”, “Händel-Festspiele Halle”, “Festival de St. Denis” and many others. A wide range of radio productions and recordings provides testiment to his international artistic activities. Since 2014 Ingo is returning regularly to Australia to perform with Australia’s finest historically-informed performance ensembles. Current musical long-term projects in Europe include the ongoing recording of Bach’s entire vocal oeuvre in sound and vision by the Swiss Bach-Foundation.

At the same time Ingo maintains a notable career as a literary scholar. After studying German philology he graduated with a PhD in the history of germanophone literature from the University of Freiburg, where he has been researching and lecturing on the interdisciplinary field of literature, music and aesthetics. Subsequent to his award-winning monograph on Alban Berg’s opera dramaturgy he became a fellowship-holder of the “Thyssen Foundation” to undertake a long-term research project on the aesthetics of Heinrich Heine’s poetry and Robert Schumann’s associated settings. The two-volume monograph will appear in 2020.
